Maadi Community Church - Prayer
I Chronicles 14 tells the story of King David facing a major threat to their nation. Although David was a trained, skilled warrior and had an army ready for battle, although he had all the civil authority required to take action, he didn't move forward. Before he proceeded he inquired of God (verses 10 & 14) and God answered him with wise guidance and specific steps for victory. Prayer makes a difference!
Prayer is foundational and fundamental to the life of a child of God, and so therefore to the church of Jesus Christ! The story of David is an illustration of seeking God first before acting and is a good example to us. Conversely if Joshua and the Israelites had taken the time to inquire of God before carelessly invading Ai they would have known about Achans’ sin (Joshua 7-8).
So it pays to pray, as the song goes “What needless pain we bear all because we do not take it to the Lord in prayer!” Prayer has many forms and each has its’ place in the prayer life of the church. So………..Pray!
Our church and your life are the same in that we have issues, battles, obstacles, enemies, diseases, bills and problems that threaten us. We have Father who is concerned about us so it makes sense to talk to Him about these issues and not try to solve them in our own strength.
Ephesians 6:18 says, Never stop praying, especially for others. Always pray by the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for Gods’ people.
Philippians 4:6, Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Always be joyful and never stop praying. Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.
If there was a time we need to unleash God's power in Egypt and the nations, it's now! While the nations rage, God continues to work His kingdom purposes in dramatic and quiet ways. He invites us to partner with Him.
